Many thought HMD Global bringing back the Nokia brand was nothing more than a gimmick, but it’s actually gone on to spawn a reliable brand in the matured smartphone industry. We can tell how hungry its employees are by how they continue to push their products. The company keeps growing and today they have announced a partnership with AT&T to sell the Nokia 3.1 on both its mainstream cellular network as well as the pre-paid MVNO reseller Cricket Wireless (which AT&T owns as well).
HMD Global has put a lot of attention on just about every segment of the smartphone market. They have devices for those looking for something in the low-end, mid-range, and flagship price ranges. Where the company is different from others is how well it has supported the software on its low-end and mid-range smartphones. HMD Global has made its software roadmap public on multiple occasions. Android Pie was delivered to the Nokia 3.1 in March of this year.
The device must be doing well for the company, sales-wise, as it was picked to be sold by both AT&T and Cricket Wireless. This is big for the United States as many consumers will only buy a smartphone directly from their wireless carrier. They have given the device two different names, depending on which company you buy the device from. AT&T will be selling the “Nokia 3.1 A” while Cricket Wireless will be selling the “Nokia 3.1 C.” Both include the same hardware, although RAM (or pricing) isn’t mentioned, with 32GB of internal storage, the Snapdragon 429 SoC, and an 8MP rear camera.
The Nokia 3.1 A will be available (in black) on June 10th at select Walmart stores while Cricket customers will have to wait until June 14th to purchase the white variant.
