The ASUS ZenFone 6 was announced last month and turned many heads for its innovative flip camera. To avoid using a notch or a mechanical slider, ASUS decided to use the flipping mechanism which lets the rear dual camera module pop out of the back panel and face the front. This means that besides being used as a rear camera, it can also be used for selfies. Along with this, the smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 855, up to 12GB of RAM, and 512GB storage options – all this without a baffling price tag.
Another cheering change that comes with the ZenFone 6 is in the form of the stock Android interface instead of ASUS’ ZenUI. The change should allow ASUS to roll out updates faster than it traditionally has. In fact, the ZenFone 6 already received its first update less than two weeks after its launch and that was intended to improve the Super Night Mode and the HDR+ camera feature. Now, the smartphone is getting another update and this one brings Super Night Mode for the secondary wide-angle camera.
There are some more minor changes that improve stability and the performance of the ASUS ZenFone 6. Here’s the complete changelog for the update:
- Enable “Super Night mode” on Ultra-wide camera.
- Get weather displayed on the lock screen.
- Optimize translation strings in Setting.
- Improve system stability.
- Improve camera rotation stability.
- Optimize UI Animation.
- Optimize the headphone sound quality
Besides the additional feature to the ultra-wide camera, ASUS has optimized the flipping of the camera, the sound output when using headphones, improved UI animations, as well as the overall system stability.
The update will roll out in phases based on the serial number of the smartphone and should reach all users in a few days. You can also install the update manually by downloading the full firmware ZIP from the link below and placing it in the internal storage of your ZenFone 6. Just check the contents of the ZIP once and make sure that there isn’t another ZIP inside it. If that is so, unpack the ZIP into the internal storage. Once you do that, the system will automatically detect an update file and prompt you to install the update.
