Installing a custom recovery on your Android smartphone is among the initial steps while you’re trying to install any kind of custom software like a custom ROM, kernels, and more. TWRP is the most widely used custom recoveries around which offers features like ADB sideloading as well as partition-wise backup and restore functionality besides the general ability to install packages or wiping storages. Its intuitive GUI (unlike the forgotten CMW) makes it easy to get tasks accomplished even if you have limited know-how. While TWRP is open source, leading to unofficial versions, the developers of TWRP are hard at work adding official support for more and more devices by the day. Today, a few more smartphones are getting added to this list and these include the ASUS ZenFone Max M2, Lenovo Tab4 Plus, UMIDIGI F1 Play, and Vestel Venus V4.

ASUS ZenFone Max M2 XDA Forums
Launched last year, the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 sports a near-stock UI and is powered by a Snapdragon 632 along with 3GB of RAM. If you own a ZenFone Max M2 or are planning to buy one, the official TWRP will allow you to explore different customization possibilities on your devices.

Lenovo Tab4 10 Plus
Lenovo released the Tab4 10 Plus along with three other devices back in 2017. But with its losing share in the market and the decline of the popularity of tablet, the company has sidelined any development. The Tab4 10 Plus did not even get an official Android Oreo update and if you have one and want to try out newer versions of Android, we recommend taking the risk of flashing a custom ROM – at least for the sake of the latest security updates.

UMIDIGI F1 Play
UMIDIGI makes some really economical yet powerful Android smartphones and is now expanding its footprint outside of China. The F1 Play is one of the company’s latest devices and it brings 48MP camera, Full HD+ waterdrop display, 6GB RAM, and 5,150mAh battery at a price of $200. While it comes with stock Android, you might want to fiddle with the available customization options and this is where TWRP will be useful.

Vestel Venus V4
The Vestel Venus V4 is made by Turkish home appliances company Vestel which ventured into the smartphone market back in 2014. The Venus V4 was announced in 2017 with Android Nougat and there’s no concrete information of any update since then. TWRP will help you achieve more with the device if you own one.
