Like many Android tablets, Amazon’s Fire 7 tablet doesn’t exactly offer the best entertainment experience. But, it manages to provide a basic set of features for kids or for those who don’t need a very powerful device. Reading a book, watching a movie, or simply browsing the web is absolutely possible, while the Fire 7 tablet will drag its foot in anything more demanding than that. Amazon just updated the device with new system-on-chip, higher storage, and useful digital assistant features.
There is not much known about the SoC. All we know is that while it keeps the clock speed of 1.3 GHz, it’s still faster than the previous model. More importantly, the updated Amazon Fire 7 tablet offers double the storage that previously only upgraded model offered. You can now have 32 GB of internal storage, with microSD card of up to 512 GB. Probably the most important (and most advertised) new feature is the hands-free Alexa integration. Asking questions or executing commands will be possible without even touching the device.
One thing that has not been changed is the starting price. Amazon’s Fire 7 tablet still starts at $49.99, but this time the base model has 16 GB of storage instead of just 8. If you want to go for 32 GB, you have to add 20 bucks to sum it up to $69.99. The Fire 7 tablet comes in 4 colors: Black, Plum, Sage, and Twilight Blue. The sales will start on June 6, so it’s less than a month left. If you have an Amazon Prime subscription, you’ll even get access to features like an unlimited backup for photos, a bunch of free books and magazines, Twitch Prime content, and more. The product page is already up for the device on Amazon, but there isn’t much to see really.
