It’s very common to know pretty much every detail about a smartphone before it is officially announced. Phone events these days basically exist to confirm all the leaks and rumors we’ve already seen. The Moto Z4 is another phone on the horizon that we’ve heard about already, but this latest “leak” takes the cake. Someone was actually able to purchase the phone before an official announcement.
As mentioned, we already know a little bit about the Moto Z4. We’ve seen press renders of the device and we knew it was powered by the Snapdragon 675 SoC, among other specs. But the latest “leak” is about as legit as you can get. The device showed up on Amazon and stayed there for 2 days (but has since been removed). A customer was able to purchase the device and he actually received it. You can see his unboxing video below.
The Amazon listing confirms that the Moto Z4 has a 6.4-inch OLED display with 2340 x 1080 resolution and notch. The display also housed the in-display fingerprint sensor. It does indeed have the Snapdragon 675, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. On the rear, you can see the 48MP camera, and the front camera is 25MP. The customer who purchased the device shared some sample photos as well.
Motorola is still supporting previous Moto Mods with the Moto Z4, but they don’t seem to fit seamlessly. In the video above you can see the slight size difference than causes sharp edges on the sides. We respect Motorola’s commitment to the Mods, but this is less than ideal for daily use.
The Amazon listing also gave us details about pricing. There is an Amazon-only model with Alexa and other pre-loaded Amazon apps for $499.99. The unlocked model is also $499.99 and comes with a free 360-degree Moto Mod. These prices are subject to change when the device is officially posted to Amazon.
