The Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10+ recently helped the Korean giant regain its top spot in India’s premium segment. These results are in line with the global trend which exalted higher sales figures compared to last year’s Galaxy S9 series. Now, to complement the premium experience and the reverse wireless charging feature of these stunningly beautiful and powerful flagships, Samsung has now announced two wireless charging accessories in India including a dual wireless charging mat and a wireless power bank.
Both – the 10,000mAh Wireless Power Bank and Wireless Charging Duo Pad – support fast wireless charging for compatible Samsung smartphones, smartwatches, and wireless earbuds. While Samsung devices with Fast Charging 2.0, i.e. the Galaxy S10 series, per se, will be charged at 12W while last year’s flagships will charge slightly slower at 10W. Besides this, the accessories are also compliant with Qi standards and support a range of smartphones and accessories, although the charging rate will be limited to 5W in line with the limitations of the Qi standard.
Besides charging a device wirelessly, the Wireless Power Bank from Samsung can also charge another device using a cable, with a maximum rate of 15W. For non-Samsung smartphones, it supports Quick Charge 2.0, a technology dating back to 2014, and this is meant to restrict charging at 10W. The power bank weighs less than 250g so it wouldn’t add too much weight to your backpack, especially for the power it provides. It is available in Pink and White colors.
Meanwhile, Wireless Charging Duo Pad does not have a wired output but it can fast charge two devices simultaneously – although only one of the hubs supports Fast Charge 2.0 while the other supports the older Fast Charge protocol. It uses a USB-C interface, is available in black and white colors, and weighs only 168g.
In India, the Wireless Power Bank is priced at ₹3,699 (~$55) while the Wireless Charging Duo Pad comes for ₹5,999 (~85). It is good to see that these prices are on par with (in fact, slightly less than) the listing of $60 and $100 in the U.S. Both the accessories will be online via Samsung’s store, Flipkart, and Amazon as well as offline via major retailers and Samsung’s Opera House. While the charging mat is still available, you will have to wait to buy the power bank.
