Dark mode is finally coming to the Google Calendar app

Google has been busy updating a lot of their most popular apps with dark modes. Some of the notable apps include YouTube, MessagesPhone, Contacts, and even Android itself. The next app to get the dark treatment is Google Calendar. This dark theme is basically the same one we’ve seen in previous Google apps.

Dark mode for Google Calendar was announced in a blog post that also confirmed the rollout for Keep Notes. As with other Google apps, this is not a pure black theme. It uses various shades of dark gray and the event colors have been darkened as well. You can toggle the dark mode on by going to Settings > General > Theme. In Android Q, you will be able to turn this on/off when you set the system theme. If you don’t want Calendar to follow the system theme you can also independently turn the dark theme on/off with the app setting.

The rollout began on May 16th and you will need to be on the latest version of the Google Calendar app to get it. Download the app from the Play Store below. Are you a fan of dark themes? Do you have them enabled in all of your apps?
