Xiaomi has just wrapped up the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi Y3 and Xiaomi Redmi 7 in India, targeting diverse spectrum of users in the country. While the Redmi 7 seeks to attract budget segment customers with yet another value-oriented device, the Redmi Y3 targets the new-age social media influencers with its 32MP seflie camera. Now, Xiaomi’s Vice President Mr. Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter to tease the launch of another device in India.
Great meeting Rajen @rajen_vagadia & Kedar from #Qualcomm.@Xiaomi & @Qualcomm have always worked together to bring the latest & the best!

Manu’s meeting with Qualcomm personnel comes as no surprise, as all of Xiaomi India’s current offerings run on Qualcomm SoCs. The second part of his tweet teases the launch of a device with a “latest Snapdragon 7xx” series smartphone in India. It further mentions that the SoC was announced just two weeks ago, which helps us narrow it down to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 that was announced earlier this month.
The Snapdragon 730 is manufactured on an 8nm process, compared to the 10nm process of the Snapdragon 710 and Snapdragon 845 and 11nm process of the Snapdragon 675 which is used on the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro. The Snapdragon 730 offers a lot of generational improvements over the Snapdragon 710, which is used on the recently launched Realme 3 Pro in the same price segment as the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Manu Kumar Jain and Realme’s CEO Madhav Sheth have been boasting about their respective releases on Twitter, and pitching it as the better option against the other. So it comes as no surprise that Xiaomi is looking to get its edge back by releasing an even powerful mid-range device. However, it is unclear if this will be a Redmi device or released as a different device lineup under Xiaomi.
