Now that the Galaxy S10 series has been launched for a while, the rumor mill has moved on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10. There have already been a few notable rumors. One rumor claimed there may even be four Galaxy Note 10 models this year. We also discovered hints at a 5G Note 10 in the Galaxy S10’s kernel source, and now Verizon has confirmed the inevitable.
It will come as no surprise to learn that the Galaxy Note 10 will support 5G. Samsung is already launching a Galaxy S10 5G and the Note line has typically been a dumping ground for every feature imaginable. Verizon’s CEO said during an earnings call, “the Note and Galaxy coming this year will both have 5G.”
The Galaxy Note 10 5G may be the device to get if you want in early on the 5G hype train. That’s because Verizon just announced 20 US cities that will get 5G service this year. The list includes Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Des Moines, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Little Rock, Memphis, Phoenix, Providence, San Diego, Salt Lake City and Washington DC. Chicago and Minneapolis already have 5G service from Verizon.
5G is going to be a big deal this year and Samsung is making sure they have devices to take advantage of it. Verizon is positioning themselves as a leader for 5G coverage, but AT&T will also have Samsung’s 5G Galaxy devices. For the vast majority of people, it’s still too early to care about 5G. That may change by the end of 2019.
