Verizon Motorola Razr and Motorola One Vision appear on Bluetooth SIG

Motorola is reviving the iconic Moto Razr and will be pitting it as its first foldable smartphone against competitors like the Galaxy Fold, arriving later this month, the Huawei Mate X, set to make it to the market later in the summer, or Xiaomi’s mystifying dual-folding smartphone. A few months ago, the company dropped some hints about its plan to release a foldable smartphone no later than competitors with similar concepts without additional details. While no further information was shared by Motorola, a new logo pointing to the “razr” moniker, which was encountered by us earlier has now been name-dropped – and thus, confirmed – in a certification by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).

Motorola Razr confirmed

A listing on the Launch Studio platform, managed by the Bluetooth certification body, confirms that the revitalized clamshell will be called “motorola razr” and will feature Bluetooth 5.0. This is the first time, the smartphone’s name has been publically mentioned by any of the official sources. As tipped by XDA’s Editor-in-Chief, Mishaal Rahman, the Motorola Razr is most likely to be launched exclusively via Verizon in the U.S., even though it might later be launched in other regions.

In the previous leak, Mishaal also revealed that the Motorola Razr will run on the Snapdragon 710 platform with options between 4GB and 6GB of RAM, as well as 64GB and 128GB of onboard storage. Aside from this, the Motorola Razr will feature two displays, a larger, foldable one on the inside, and a smaller one on the outside. When the Razr is unfolded, the outer display will act as a trackpad and will serve as an interface for quick settings, quick selfies, and interactions with the Google Assistant when the phone is folded.

The primary display is most likely to be a 6.2″ tall OLED panel and have a resolution of 876×2142. Meanwhile, the secondary display will have a resolution of 600×800, although its size is not confirmed yet.

Motorola One Vision follows the suit

Apart from the highly-awaited Motorola Razr, the Bluetooth SIG also certified five different variants of the Motorola One Vision, the upcoming Motorola smartphone with Android One, dual cameras, and a Samsung Exynos 9610 chipset. Of these five different models, there are two dual-SIM variants and a single-SIM version for the Latin America region – attributing to the different RAM and storage variants revealed earlier by XDA – while one dual-SIM model is intended to be launched in China. Apart from this, there’s another model with a “super row” – seemingly a non-hybrid SIM tray – and can be expected to be launched in markets like The U.S., India, and Europe (although we’re yet to get confirmation on this).

While the Motorola One Vision has already been announced through a listing on the official ARCore support page and a Wi-Fi certification, the latest documentation confirms the company’s efforts to launch it soon. We’ll update you when we learn more about the expected launch date of the Motorola One Vision.
