T-Mobile’s Caller Verified helps detect robocallers on the Samsung Galaxy S10/S9/S8, Galaxy Note 9/8, and LG G8

The carriers are just starting to realize how annoying and harmful robocallers can be. For example, Verizon just rolled out a free anti-robocalling service about a month ago. It works on all Android and iOS devices with Verizon SIM-cards and its main goal is to block as many spam callers as possible. Now, it looks like T-Mobile and Comcast are following the lead while claiming that they’re the first to block robocalls. T-Mobile just activated the Caller Verified feature, which activates the anti-spam feature without any applications, fees, or opt-in services.

According to the report, T-Mobile and Comcast are using the service which is built on STIR/SHAKEN (Secure Telephony Identity Revisited/Secure Handling of Asserted information using toKENs), and they are right to claim that they’re the first ones to do it. The service is absolutely free and you don’t need to do a single thing to activate it. T-Mobile reports that “Calls are analyzed as soon as they reach the T-Mobile network, and scam calls are then tagged ‘Scam Likely’ to warn the customer,” hinting that applications are simply not enough for fully blocking robocallers. While the service is free and available between T-Mobile and Comcast Xfinity Voice numbers, it has one catch – it isn’t available for all devices just yet. Here is the full list of the compatible devices:

That’s only a handful of devices from only two manufacturers, most of them being Samsung’s. Considering that you have any of these devices and are currently tied to the T-Mobile network, the verification feature should already be live for you. The support for Samsung Galaxy Fold and Samsung Galaxy A6 is also coming soon. Expect to see the potential spam indicator when you receive the robocalls. Though, if you use Comcast’s Xfinity Voice home phone, you have to wait until the end of the year. T-Mobile reports that the database is updated every 6 minutes, so newly registered robocallers will most likely be blocked, too.
