Samsung Galaxy View 2 renders reveal massive 17.5″ display and kickstand

Regular sized tablets are looked at as a dying breed these days, but mammoth ones such as the Samsung Galaxy View have had an even more difficult time catching on. The original Galaxy View received a lot of headlines a few years back but not why some would think. It was the size of the tablet that gave it the attention it received, not because it was a form factor which was highly anticipated. It does, however, fill a very specific niche and it looks as if it was successful enough to spawn a successor. We spoke about this late last year but now there are some alleged renders that show us what the Galaxy View 2 will look like.

We were in the second half of August last year when a new report first revealed some details about the big new tablet from Samsung. The news was brushed off by many because, again, there just isn’t a big market for such a device. But it was exciting news for some of the people who had become daily users of the predecessor. In that report, we learned the Galaxy View 2 would have a 17.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, and some unnamed Exynos chipset. It also mentioned a built-in hinge, a USB Type-C charging port, and a microSD card slot.

It was disappointing to also learn that it only had Android Oreo, it did not support Samsung DeX mode, and that it may end up being an AT&T exclusive here in the United States. This week, a new leak has revealed a number of press renders of the Samsung Galaxy View 2. We have confirmation that it is headed to AT&T, but the company is also working on a WiFi variant as well. A Geekbench benchmark suggests the device will have the Exynos 7885 SoC, but this really shouldn’t be trusted as we have discussed in the past.
