Realme, a spin-off of OPPO, is barely a year old but it has posed a stiff challenge to Xiaomi since its arrival in India. Despite being a newcomer, Realme has gained pace very quickly and has charted successful sales figures like 2 million Realme 2 Pro units in two months or half a million Realme 3 units in 3 weeks. Now, Realme is aiming to disrupt Xiaomi’s growth and immense popularity with the Realme 3 Pro – a direct competitor to the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
After weeks of teasing and contentious comparison with the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 3 Pro was officially announced in India today for a price of ₹13,999. The Realme 3 Pro, successor to Realme 2 Pro and not the Realme 3, is designed to woo the youth with its performance, impressive cameras, and an appealing price. The price-effective specifications are complemented by a charismatic design – a blend of contouring lines and gradient – which Realme says has been inspired by the curves in a race track. On the front, there’s a 6.3-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a tiny waterdrop notch with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The Realme 3 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 710 chipset, which Realme has been hailing as better than the Snapdragon 675 on the Redmi Note 7 Pro, along with options between 4GB and 6GB of RAM. Buyers will also be able to get an option to choose up to 128GB of internal storage which can further be expanded to up to 256GB. One of the features that Realme has been bragging about is the Realme 3 Pro’s ability to run Fortnite Mobile, which is something Xiaomi is still evaluating for the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The 3 Pro also runs PUBG on high settings by default so it should definitely appeal to young users.

For photography, the Realme 3 Pro is equipped with dual 16MP+5MP cameras on the back. The primary sensor is a Sony IMX519 – the same as OnePlus 6T, which is something to be drawn towards, especially given the price difference between the two smartphones. Using software optimizations, the Realme 3 Pro can also capture images at 64MP. The secondary sensor comes in handy for depth sensing. Meanwhile, there is a 25MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture on the front. The camera is capable of 64MP “Ultra HD” images which comprise of four 16MP shots as well as video modes including 4K recording with EIS and 960fps slo-mo.
Another appealing aspect of the Realme 3 Pro is its support for OPPO’s VOOC charging at 20W. Realme says that this should allow users to recharge the 4,045mAh battery in slightly over an hour. At the same time, the power-efficient Snapdragon 710 is claimed aid in the conservation of the battery at standby.

From the announcement, the Realme 3 Pro feels like a smartphone too good for its price but we’ll be testing it out rigorously during our full review. Realme did not shy away from hitting back at Xiaomi but we wait to find out which device is the actual “real Pro.”
Realme C2
Besides its “flagship”, Realme also announced the Realme C2, which succeeds the Realme C1 and represents the Realme brand in India’s entry-level smartphone market. Priced at only ₹5,999, the Realme C2 is among the most affordable dual camera smartphones available to Indian consumers. It features 13MP+2MP dual cameras on the back and a 5MP selfie camera with AI. The smartphone comes equipped with a 6.1-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop design. Meanwhile, the diamond-cut design on the back is trendy and reminiscent of the Realme 1. But at the same time, there’s no fingerprint scanner.
The Realme C2 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset with options between 2GB or 3GB of RAM. It is positioned as a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy M10 and the Redmi 6A but Realme also took the liberty of comparing to the Redmi 7 which may be launching alongside the Redmi Y3. Additionally, the Realme C2 features a the 4,000mAh battery, ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie, and a dedicated microSD card slot.
Realme 3 Pro and Realme C2: Price and Availability
The Realme 3 Pro will come in two variants – 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB – which will be priced at ₹13,999 and 16,999, respectively. It will be available in three radiant colors including Carbon Gray, Nitro Blue, and Lighting Purple and can be bought via Flipkart starting the noon of April 29. With HDFC credit or debit card, buyers will get a ₹1,000 straight-up discount.
The Realme C2, on the other hand, will be available starting May 15 with the 2GB+16GB and 3GB+32GB variants priced at ₹5,999 and ₹7,999, respectively. Additionally, there are Jio cashback offers worth ₹5,300 to be earned with both the devices.
