The Huawei P30 Pro, launched last month, has been in the news for the right reasons so far. Reviewers and users alike have praised the phone for its zoom capabilities as well as its performance in low-light and pitch black lighting conditions; and both Tushar and Daniel largely agree with the sentiment. The rest of the device is also well-rounded, and the P30 Pro does indeed come out as a strong contender for being one of the better releases of 2019, assuming you can ignore the locked bootloader.
One of the features that was spoken about during the P30 pro launch is the capability to shoot video through the primary camera as well as the zoom lens simultaneously, in order to create a split-screen video. This dual-view camera mode lends itself to interesting shots which can be used creatively, as it lets you record details on a subject as well as showcase the context around the subject without putting in anymore efforts.
Dual-view video recording was not available out-of-the-box, and was promised to be delivered through an OTA update. This has now arrived to the device through the EMUI 9.1.0.153 update which is rolling out in China.
The changelog for the update is as follows:
- Camera
- Adds Dual-view mode to Camera, allowing you to view the panoramic and close-up video images while recording.
- Adds Charming portrait mode to Camera, allowing you to take portrait photos with more appealing blurring effects.
- Huawei Vlog
- Automatically generates highlight reels, applies effects templates, and creates MVs.
- Security
- Integrates Google security patches released in April 2019 for improved system security. For more information on the security of Huawei EMUI system updates, please visit the official Huawei website.
The update is rolling out in stages, so you may need to wait patiently before it reaches your device, assuming no major bugs are found in the update.
