Google Fi has had an exciting last few months. Late last year, Google’s MVNO was rebranded and opened up support for many more phones. We’ve also seen RCS support on the network and SIM card availability at Best Buy. While there has been a lot of news lately, Google Fi is not new. In fact, it’s been around for 4 years already. To celebrate its birthday, Google is dropping the price of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

The service kicked off as “Project Fi” back in 2015 and it only worked with the Nexus 6 at the time. Every Nexus and Google Pixel device that has come since then has supported Google Fi. On the service’s birthday, Google is offering the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL for 50% off. That puts the 64GB Pixel 3 down to $399 and the 64GB Pixel 3 XL down to $449 (add $50 for 128GB).
This deal will only be available for the remainder of the day (4/22) until 11:59 PM PST. New and existing Google Fi customers can take advantage of the offer. If you’re unfamiliar with Google Fi, the service relies on T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular. A fully compatible device can intelligently switch between those networks based on coverage. Users pay for only the data they use and bills are capped once you reach 6GB. It’s a decent solution for people who don’t use much data.
