The Samsung Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ were unveiled a couple of weeks ago. These devices have a lot in common, but one of the most noticeable traits is the display cutout/hole punch for the front-facing cameras. The Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10 have a single, circular cutout, while the Galaxy S10+ has a dual, elongated cutout. These holes present some challenges and opportunities when it comes to home screen wallpapers.

There are two approaches you can take to something like display notches and cutouts. You can try to hide them as much as possible, or, instead of fighting it, embrace the feature. Samsung is obviously trying to hide the cutout as every single stock wallpaper has a dark top right corner. Many Galaxy S10 owners are taking the opposite approach and a clever subreddit has popped up along with it.
The trend seems to have originated with Twitter user @Mattcabb, but it has since become much bigger. The subreddit /r/S10wallpapers is full of wallpapers that take advantage of the display cutout. Here are just a few examples of what I’m talking about:
Instead of hiding the cutout, people are using it as a feature in images and patterns. There are even some who are going full silly and adding more cutouts to the display. If you own one of these hole punch devices, we highly recommend checking out the subreddit. You may find a humorous way to show off the cutout.
