Last month, OnePlus announced that it will officially integrate Google Duo, Google’s simple yet robust video calling app, into the dialer, contacts and messaging apps of OxygenOS. This would make Duo the primary video calling application on all OnePlus devices, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your point of view. While OnePlus’s reasoning for adding in Duo is rather unconvincing, the good news is that Google Duo is a legitimately good app, and the real good news is that you can disable it if you think it isn’t.
Over the past weeks, OnePlus has rolled out updates that brought in this deeper integration with Google Duo. The changes first appeared on the Open Beta releases for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, and then the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. Subsequently, this change was carried over to the stable OxygenOS release for the 6 and 6T, and now, to the 5 and 5T.

Alongside Google Duo integration, another highlight of this 1741 MB update is the inclusion of January 2019’s Android security patch.
OnePlus mentions that the OTA is rolling out in stages, with only a small percentage of users receiving the update initially. The rollout will broaden up in the coming days, so hang tight for a while. Or just sideload it yourself.
