The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in February 2018. It marked a decent upgrade over the Redmi Note 4, which at that time, was one of the best-selling Xiaomi devices in India. The Redmi Note 5 Pro and its successor, the Redmi Note 6 Pro (launched in September 2018), helped Xiaomi cement its position as a leader in the Indian market, contributing heavily to the 11.7 Million smartphones that Xiaomi shipped in Q3 2018 alone in India.
One of the caveats with the Redmi Note 5 Pro was that it was launched with Android 7.1.2 Nougat underneath MIUI 9.2. When the Redmi Note 6 Pro was released, Xiaomi shared some love with the Redmi Note 5 Pro too by updating it to MIUI 10, which was based on Android 8.1 Oreo. With regards to its Android Pie update, Xiaomi had been looking for beta testers for the Redmi Note 5 Pro’s Android Pie update, and now we have access to the very first beta build of MIUI 10 based on Android Pie for the Redmi Note 5 Pro!
This update for the Redmi Note 5 Pro (device codename: whyred_global) is for MIUI 10 Beta 9.3.25 with Android 9 as the base. The update is 1.7GB in size for its recovery flashable zip. You can download the beta update from the link below:
Do note that this update is from the Beta channel, not from the Stable update channel. Since this is the first beta with Android Pie, we expect that there will be plenty of bugs and perhaps a few stability issues. As such, this update is only recommended for experienced users who are well versed with flashing updates. Please do make adequate backups of your data before flashing the update.
