Asus may not be the most popular brand for smartphones in terms of sales, but there’s no denying that they have made some memorable phones. Devices like the Asus ZenFone 2 were known for the rather interesting decision to ship with the Intel Atom Z3580 SoC based on Intel’s Atom Silvermont x86 architecture. Recent devices like the Asus ZenFone 5Z and the Asus ROG Phone have packed in flagship level specifications for different audiences, while devices like the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and the ZenFone Max Pro M2 have been well received for providing strong value experiences and as good alternatives to Xiaomi’s smartphones.
Asus is planning to add in two more phones to its lineup. The Asus ZenFone Max Plus M2 and the Asus ZenFone Max Shot have been spotted on Anatel, Brazil’s telecom regulatory authority.
The two new devices appear to have a metallic back, coupled with polycarbonate caps on the top and bottom. The protruding rear camera module on the Max Plus M2 houses two rear cameras and a LED flash; while the camera module on the Max Shot houses three rear camera, with the LED flash placed outside. It is unknown what extra functionality these additional cameras would provide, but we would like to guess that the secondary camera would be a depth sensor.
Other images of the device reveal that the Max Shot will come with a microUSB port as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom of the device. Images from the device manual indicates that the Max Plus M2 will also follow the same setup.
The leak mentions that the Asus ZenFone Max Plus M2 will come with 32GB internal storage, and the Max Shot will come with 64GB storage. Asus isn’t known for keeping things simple with its device branding, so there’s likely to be multiple RAM and storage variants of both these devices.
No more information is available regarding these two devices. While the device names appear to be final, we hope Asus reconsiders their branding strategy to make their devices easier to differentiate.
