Samsung gives us our best look yet at the Galaxy Fold in a new video

After years of rumors and leaks as well as a brief presentation back in November, Samsung formally announced the Samsung Galaxy Fold last week, the first consumer version of their foldable phone. It packs Samsung’s latest bleeding-edge technology and couples it with top-of-the-line specifications in order to deliver a product that looks futuristic, feels premium, and pioneers a trend that we’re very likely to see on devices from many different manufacturers for the next decade. It is far from Samsung’s main flagship at the moment (that spot belongs to the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+), but it is, by a long shot, the most interesting one in their current lineup.

We already covered it in detail, but it’ll be a couple of months before you can get your hands on one. Luckily for you, Samsung has put out a video showcasing the Galaxy Fold in all its glory, highlighting things such as its design, feature set, and much more. The device unfolds into a tablet with a notched 7.3-inch display which, as demonstrated in the video, is a complete delight to look at and use.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is packing a big chunk of the Galaxy S10’s internals, including the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor as well as up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. Other features include a triple rear camera setup, a secondary 21:9 display (for using the device in “phone mode”), and Android Pie-based One UI out of the box.

At a first sight, it’s a hard buy for many at a $1,980 starting price. But it’s posing to be one of the most interesting devices of 2019, if not the most interesting one. And as foldable display technology gets cheaper, it’s sure going to come to other devices very, very soon: we’re already seeing Huawei launch their take on a foldable device, and it’s shaping up to become one of 2019’s biggest trends.
