Google’s AMP project has been quite a divisive idea when it comes to mobile and web development communities. There are some who feel that AMP is Google’s way of taking more control over the web and deciding which sites get featured on the front page of the SERPs. To an extent, this is true as they have eagerly promoted a new carousel at the top for websites that have offered an AMP version of their content. However, others feel AMP is needed in order to keep websites from getting out of hand (both in terms of web page size and scripts) when it’s obvious that mobile phones are the future of the internet.
In any case, it’s not something a user can simply turn on or off within Chrome or even their Google account. So people have opted to use other solutions such as DeAMPify to prevent Google from linking to these AMP versions of websites. It seems the latest beta of AdGuard is also able to prevent Google from doing this as shown to us by XDA Senior Member Dirk. In their post, they tell us to check out the Stealth setting as the beta version of AdGuard now allows you to change the User Agent string.
Simply set this User Agent string to the following (others will likely work as well) and you will no longer see AMP links in your Google search results.
- Mozilla/5.0 (Android 9; Mobile; rv:65.0) Gecko/65.0 Firefox/65.0
