The TicWatch E2 and TicWatch S2 are two swim-ready Wear OS smartwatches

Mobvoi is a company created by former Google employees that creates smartwatches and audio products. Last year, they released the TicWatch E, TicWatch S, TicWatch Pro, and TicWatch C2 with Wear OS. The TicWatch S and E were the company’s first Wear OS devices and they were offered at very competitive price points. Mobvoi has announced follow-ups to these watches, named the TicWatch E2 and TicWatch S2.

TicWatch E2 & TicWatch S2

TicWatch E2

These two smartwatches are essentially identical, but the TicWatch E2 is slightly bigger. Both devices still feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100, not the newer Wear 3100 chip. The displays are AMOLED, 1.39-inches, and 400×400 resolution. Battery size has been upgraded 30% to 415mAh. The last generation was rated IP67 waterproof and dustproof, while these new devices are rated at 5 ATM (withstands the pressure of being submerged in water up to 50m)That, along with the new swim-motoring mode, makes them great for swimming.

Both models now have GPS integrated along with a heart-rate sensor and low latency off-body sensor. Like last year’s models, the TicWatch E2 and TicWatch S2 do not support mobile payments. In general, the E2 and S2 don’t offer a ton of upgrades over last year’s models. The improved battery life and waterproof rating are welcomed additions, but we would have loved to see the Wear 3100 chip onboard.

Pricing & Availability

Mobvoi says both watches will be available for purchase “soon after CES.” Both watches will be available in Black at first and the TicWatch S2 will get a White option later in Q1. They did not share pricing information, but last year the TicWatch E debuted for $159.99 and the TicWatch S debuted for $199.99. We can expect similar pricing for the new models.
