The new Samsung Galaxy M10 and Samsung Galaxy M20 feature the same overall design, but with differences in screen size and other key internals to provide for a wider price coverage. As is obvious, the M10 is the lower-specced version within the siblings, competing against the likes of Xiaomi’s Redmi series, while the M20 offers some more over and above the M10 and competes against the likes of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series.

The highlight of the devices is the large and immersive screen, which lends a very clean look to the device and sets it apart in the targeted price range. The processors, especially the Samsung Exynos 7904, should be able to accomplish all that is expected out of a budget/ early mid-range device in the Indian market. The large 5,000 mAh battery on the Galaxy M20 would also be appreciated by power users.

Another highlight of the M10 and M20 is the ultra-wide 5MP secondary rear shooter, which will allow the user to shoot more expansive photos that fit a lot more in a single frame. This feature is not commonly seen in this price segment, so it would be interesting to see the reaction of the target audience towards this addition. The dual rear camera setup can also take live focus portrait shots.

A small disappointment with the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 is that the devices come with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, underneath Samsung Experience UX v9.5. This is a missed opportunity for Samsung, as a launch with Android 9 Pie could have been a very good marketing point, especially at this segment. The Galaxy M10 also does not feature a fingerprint scanner anywhere on the device.

The Galaxy M10 will cost ₹7,990 (~$112) for the 2GB+16GB variant and ₹8,990 (~$126) for the 3GB + 32GB variant. The Galaxy M20 will cost ₹10,990 (~$155) for the 3GB + 32GB variant and ₹12,990 (~$183) for the 4GB + 64GB variant.
