Nowadays, the smartphone industry is as challenging for the newcomers as it gets. It’s not so easy to stay relevant on the abyss of competitiveness. We all saw what happened to Essential and their pretty standard phone. User feedback has shown that in order to keep floating in the game, you must have some unique feature set. Razer has managed to get its user base in just 2 years. Their “gaming phone,” which is simply called the Razer Phone 2, aims at the enthusiasts in the industry. Apart from the obvious flagship specs, it features 120Hz HDR screen, stereo speakers, and a glowing logo on the back, which is controlled by a system app, Chroma.
Just a few days ago, XDA Senior Member CurstiMJ published his app, Logo+, on our forums. The app is simply an open-source alternative to Razer’s Chroma app. It is currently in beta stage, so some bugs are to be found, but the developer works hard for fixing them. You can see on his GitHub that he pushes out new commits pretty quickly. Also worth considering that Logo+ doesn’t work without root access. Restrictions include not working on the unlocked state, for what it’s worth. Here are the main features of the app:
- Select custom notification color per app
- Set LED brightness
- Up to 4 apps’ colors on the logo at once
- 4 different passive effects
The open source alternative to the app will ensure that custom ROM users will also be able to take advantage of the glowing logo on the back of the Razer Phone 2. You can download the APK file from the link below. You will need to grant notification access to the app and disable battery optimization for it so that it doesn’t get killed in the background.
