Samsung Galaxy M20 may have a massive 5000 mAh battery and a waterdrop notch

The Samsung Galaxy M20 has a waterdrop notch and a 5,000 mAh battery.

We first heard that Samsung was considering creating a new Galaxy M line back in September, which would possibly result in the death of the Galaxy J line as well. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen rumors floating around that a Samsung Galaxy M20 device is set to launch in early 2019, but we had few actual details about the device itself. Now, thanks to a pair of reports from 91Mobiles and AllAboutSamsung, we’re getting a better idea of what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy M20. The Galaxy M20 looks like a pretty sweet device with a large 5,000 mAh battery (as reported by AllAboutSamsung) and an Infinity-U waterdrop notch.

While Samsung has been mostly resistant to 2018 trends like the introduction of the display notch and the removal of the headphone jack, they certainly haven’t foregone them entirely either. We recently saw the Samsung Galaxy A8s remove the headphone jack, and just last month Samsung announce the new Infinity displays which feature different types of notches. The Samsung Galaxy M20 is a mid-range smartphone which features an Infinity-U display, but it at least does have a headphone jack, according to images released by 91Mobiles.

The Samsung Galaxy M20 seems to be an interesting departure from the company’s 2018 mid-range devices. According to the report from 91Mobiles, the company has already begun production of this new device in India, which suggests a release is coming in the next couple of months. 91Mobiles also believes that the Samsung Galaxy M20 will have an Exynos 7885 system-on-chip with 3GB of RAM, solidifying this particular device as a potential mid-range favorite if the price is right. It appears to be one as well, as it’s reported that the Samsung Galaxy M20 should be under Rs 15,000 (~$215). There’s also reportedly a Samsung Galaxy M10, which is likely a low-end smartphone as it’s said to be below Rs 10,000 (~$140).

Samsung has tried all sorts of new and funky technologies in their smartphones, with the Galaxy A8s being the first Samsung smartphone to feature a display hole and not featuring a headphone jack. The Samsung Galaxy A9 was the first of its kind with quad rear cameras. Samsung’s plans to revamp their mid-range devices may be just what they need to combat Xiaomi’s success in India.
