OnePlus is one of the few companies that has always been committed to providing the latest and greatest Android experience for their smartphones. The company’s latest flagship, the OnePlus 6T, has been praised by many as the best smartphone of the year. Unsurprisingly, the phone has some incredible specs like the Snapdragon 845, nearly bezel-less screen, a more than capable camera, and again, the latest Android experience. Just today, OnePlus released another software update for the device.

Changelog

  • System
    • Updated Android security patch to 2018.12
    • Improved Wi-Fi stability for better connectivity
    • Face Unlock improvements
  • Camera
    • Improved Nightscape performance

First of all, the newest update includes December security patches. While it may be a little late as the patch was released by Google a few weeks ago, it’s still an important and nice addition for making sure the device stays as secure as possible. Wi-Fi stability has also been improved for better networking experience, though I haven’t heard that anyone really had a problem with the phone’s wireless capabilities. OxygenOS 9.0.10 also includes improvements to Face Unlock. As you may already know, in addition to the in-display fingerprint scanner, you can also use your face as another biometric method for unlocking the device. The new update will make it more reliable and possibly faster, too.

Nightscape is one of the features that make the OnePlus 6T’s camera a competitive performer. It works similarly to Night Sight mode on the Google Pixel, Pixel 2, and Pixel 3 devices. OnePlus uses software optimizations to improve the quality of the photos taken in the low-light conditions. According to the company’s Global Product Operation Manager, Nightscape has also been improved in the update. Like before, OxygenOS 9.0.10 is also an incremental update and it will roll out gradually to avoid bugs and inconveniences. A broader rollout will start in a few days, after making sure that the update is as stable as possible.
