Xiaomi’s Mi A2 is its successor to the company’s first smartphone in the Android One program, but with it came a more affordable variant called the Mi A2 Lite. The Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite were officially unveiled back in July of this year and launched with Android 8.1 Oreo. A month later, Xiaomi released the Oreo kernel source code for both of these devices and that helped to kick-start the community developer support for them. As we’ve gotten closer to the end of the year more and more devices are getting updated to Android Pie and that started happening for the Mi A2 Lite just a few weeks ago.
With a new major version of Android released for the device though, people have been wondering how long it would take Xiaomi to release the kernel source code. Xiaomi doesn’t really have the best record when it comes to releasing source code for their devices in a timely manner. However, that question has been answered in the last 24 hours as the Mi A2 Lite’s kernel source code for its Android Pie update is now available to download on GitHub.
