The Asus Zenfone 5 was announced in February at MWC as a solid mid-range device. The phone features a 6.2-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 636 SoC, 4/6GB of RAM, dual 12MP cameras, and a 3,300 mAh battery. Asus launched the phone with Android Oreo and now it’s getting some Android Pie goodness.

Asus has not officially announced this update yet, but they did say the Asus Zenfone 5Z, the Zenfone 5’s more powerful companion, would receive Android Pie in January. According to users who have installed the update, this is not a stable build and it’s available for the ZE620KL model. The new version is 16.0610.1812.52 and the download comes in at just over 1GB.

The update brings the usual slew of Android Pie features. As you can see in the screenshots, the Recent screen, menus, and Settings of ZenUI have all been refreshed. There is a new Night Mode that changes more elements of ZenUI and Android Pie’s gesture navigation is included as well. Watch the video below to see the update in action on the Zenfone 5 and find the download link at the bottom of the article.
