Xiaomi continues to have successful years in Asia, offering value products at prices which can rarely be competed against. Devices like the Redmi 5A sold more than 10 Million units in nine months in India, as per IDC’s monthly smartphone tracker for August 2018. The Chinese company also sold more than 2 Million smartphones in less than 2.5 days during concurring online festivals across Amazon.in (Great Indian Festival), Flipkart (Big Billion Days) and Mi.com (Super Sale), just about a month ago. Xiaomi’s dominance in the Indian market becomes even more apparent when you consider that all 10 best-selling smartphones on Amazon.in during the Great Indian Festival sale were Xiaomi smartphones, and the Xiaomi Redmi 6A was the best selling product across all categories on Amazon.in.
Xiaomi is looking to branch out to other regions, slowly but steadily. The company launched the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in Ireland recently. And now, Xiaomi plans to host an event on December 8, 2018 in New York, USA.
According to a Reddit post by Aaron Yang, Xiaomi’s Operational Project Manager for the North American region, Xiaomi will be hosting an event to allow interested users to experience Xiaomi products and meet the team behind these products. The reddit post includes a link to a registration form, and if the user is selected, they will be contacted by the Xiaomi US team for their “biggest party yet“. Do note that US-based participants are said to be preferred for the event. Time and location for the event have also not been announced yet.
Xiaomi already sells devices like the Mi Box S, Mi Home Security Camera, Mi Electric Scooter and the Mi Power Bank Pro in the USA, but no smartphones so far, so it remains to be seen what Xiaomi USA has planned for their biggest party yet for the States.
