The ability to use 3rd-party keyboards is a quintessential Android feature. Over time, keyboard apps have evolved to become much more than just a way to input text. Swiftkey is easily one of the most popular keyboard apps out there, and now it can do web searches right from the keyboard with Bing.
It’s common nowadays for a keyboard app to have stickers, GIFs, emoji, app integration, and tons of other things. Google’s own Gboard app can do Google searches from anywhere. Swiftkey can now do searches too, but it uses Microsoft Bing. You may remember that Microsoft acquired Swiftkey a while ago. They haven’t infused too much Microsoft into the app, but Bing may be a disappointment to some users.
To use this feature, you can open the toolbar and select the Search icon. Type whatever you want into the text box. You’ll see results from Bing or it can take you to a specific webpage. The feature is rolling out to users in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Brazil, India, Italy, and Spain.
