For years, Asus phones have brought great performance to their phones for less than you’d expect to pay. The Asus Zenfone 5Z, launched earlier this year, was one of the few phones that gave the OnePlus 6 a run for its money. But I wouldn’t blame you if you considered the company’s ZenUI software to be a deal breaker. ZenUI is bloated and not visually appealing to many Android purists. Luckily, Asus also offers devices with stock Android, if you’re into that. The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 launched earlier this year in India a stock Android 8.1 Oreo experience, a large battery, and a mid-range Qualcomm SoC at a price that put the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro in a tight spot.
A successor to this phone, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2, is coming soon as we’ve learned from earlier leaks. and thanks to a leaked hands-on video, we’re now more familiar with the substantial improvements it will bring over the Zenfone Max Pro M1’s formula. The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 will be ditching the 18:9 display in its predecessor and will go, instead, for a notched panel.
The aluminum body is also replaced for a glass back, for better or worse. The phone does keep the dual camera setup on the back despite rumors suggesting that we’d see a triple rear camera setup, and the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is also present – no major improvements here. We’ve previously learned that the device will be launching with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 4/6 GB RAM combos and Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, so it should serve as a nice iterative improvement over its predecessor. As for the rest of the specifications, we have:
