Most of the Android news publications have been filled with headlines from the recent launches of the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Huawei Mate 20, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and the Huawei Mate 20 X. And rightfully so as these companies have just revealed smartphones that people have been waiting on for months. Personally, I’ve had my eye on the upcoming Mi Mix smartphone as I have watched it evolve from a concept series for Xiaomi. We’re getting close to Xiaomi launching the Mi Mix 3 and lately, they have been teasing the device quite a lot.
Let’s face it, bezel-less smartphones are the current trend in the industry with many companies engineering a notch to house the required sensors and speaker at the top of the device. However, we have a couple of Chinese manufacturers who have designed phones in a different way. The most prominent options so far are the Oppo Find X and the Vivo Nex with each of them choosing to go their own separate route to include the required hardware at the top.
Then we have the Mi Mix 3, which was initially teased by the President and Co-Founder of Xiaomi last month that looks strikingly similar to the Honor Magic 2. When the president of Honor showed off the Magic 2 on-stage they showed how the manually retractable camera, sensors, and speaker system worked, and it looks very similar to what Xiaomi has teased with the Mi Mix 3. It was rumored that this device would be launched sometime in October with many pegging the 15th as its launch date.
That date has come and gone but now some new teasers have come out that have revealed three interesting pieces of information. Firstly, Xiaomi plans on launching this smartphone on October 25th in China. We have seen a couple of images with “5G” on it which seems to indicate it will be able to connect to a 5G cellular network. Lastly, we have 10G which is being talked about as its RAM spec indicating the Mi Mix 3 will at least have one variant with 10GB of RAM.
So for those of us interested in the new smartphone from Xiaomi, it seems like we’ll be waiting until October 25th for its official launch event.
