Android Pie’s Digital Wellbeing feature is coming to Android One devices

Digital Wellbeing is a big focus for Google this year, but it’s a feature that not many Android phones currently can use. At first, it was exclusive to Pixel devices with Android Pie. Slowly, more devices are gaining access. According to the Play Store changelog, Android One devices will be next.

Here is the entry from the Digital Wellbeing app listing:

To try the new features, you must be a Beta tester and have a Google Pixel or Android One phone with Android 9 Pie.

The emphasis here is the “or Android One” part. That was previously not mentioned in the Play Store listing. Currently, only the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus have access to Android Pie on Android One, but that number should increase fairly quickly over the next few months. This could also be a sign of Google slowly allowing more devices to use Digital Wellbeing. You can get it on the Essential Phone and OnePlus 6 if you have root, but we’d love an official option.

If you’re not familiar with Digital Wellbeing, it’s a suite of features and controls that provide information about how you use your phone. It allows you to see a breakdown of which apps you use the most, how many notifications you recieve, screen unlocks, and more. You can also use controls to limit your usage if you feel that is a problem. Are you using Digital Wellbeing? Has it changed your phone usage habits at all?
