Vivo has had an interesting 2018 largely thanks to the Vivo Nex, a device that managed to strike a rare screen-to-body ratio of 91.24% with some party tricks like a pop-up camera. The phone has sparked a trend of bezel-less phones without a notch: the Oppo Find X, as well as the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and the Honor Magic 2, all feature a mechanical or manually retractable pop-up camera. The newest phone from Vivo, the Vivo V11 Pro, take some design cues from the Vivo Nex and keeps a considerable screen-to-body ratio while cutting some corners in other places.
We’re talking about a midrange device, after all, but it should work and perform pretty well for your normal usage. The phone was just announced by Vivo and is set to hit the market soon.

The Vivo V11 Pro shapes up to be a rather interesting midrange phone, especially considering we have a lot of features on board here. The biggest highlight of the Vivo V11 Pro is that it manages to achieve a considerably high screen to body ratio without resorting to a moving top camera/bezel. The Vivo V11 Pro does have a notch, but it’s what we call a “waterdrop” notch: Much similar to what you would find on the Essential Phone or the Oppo R17 Plus, and much smaller in size to your average notch since it only houses the front-facing camera.
Vivo is also choosing to include an in-display fingerprint scanner on the Vivo V11 Pro instead of a rear mounted one. In-display fingerprint sensors haven’t matured completely yet and many manufacturers are choosing to stay away from this technology at least for the moment, but Vivo is apparently fully on board with it. As for the specifications, the Vivo V11 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with 6GB of RAM and a 64GB of storage, so it should fly through your tasks in no time.
The waterdrop notch and reduced bottom bezel allow for increased screen real estate: The 1080×2340 AMOLED display on the Vivo V11 Pro has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, just like the iPhone X. The Vivo V11 Pro should perform pretty well on the photography front as well with its dual rear 12MP + 5MP setup. The Vivo V11 Pro’s front-facing camera sits at 25MP, so it should be able to kick out some nice selfies. The Vivo V11 Pro is running Funtouch OS 4.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and while the skin itself has been criticised for being an iOS copycat, you can probably debloat it.
