After Razer released the Razer Phone last year, it sent ripples throughout the Android smartphone world. Now, there are loads of gaming phones getting released, with Xiaomi’s Black Shark and the ASUS ROG Phone to name a couple. In the company’s earnings reports released just the other day, there’s an interesting section which pertains to the Razer Phone 2 – a now confirmed smartphone.

The Group is very pleased with the success of its first generation Razer Phone, which was released in a limited run and has garnered very positive reviews internationally. Razer is now focusing its resources into the development of the second generation Razer Phone and accompanying software releases.

What the Razer Phone 2 will bring to the table is entirely unknown, but it would make sense to get more of the same, but with upgraded specifications. That means possibly another 120Hz display with the latest Qualcomm SoC. The document doesn’t explicitly say which devices will launch, however it says that a number of them will launch in the second half of 2018. While the Razer Phone 2 is certainly a possibility, a refreshed Razer Blade laptop isn’t out of the question either. The company makes many different types of hardware, so it may not even be either of these products.

But there’s another interesting statement taken from the earnings report, which follows directly after the confirmation of a successor to the Razer Phone. They say that they will extend their existing software and services from PC “into the mobile market.” While it’s not specified, it’s possible that we could be seeing something such as Razer Synapse on mobile. Razer Synapse is a hardware configuration tool for mice and keyboards from the company, but a mobile version could have other uses. Either way, the earnings report shows an interesting future for Razer.
