It’s no secret that Samsung has achieved great success with their Galaxy S and Galaxy Note line of smartphones. After all, these phones carry all the bells and whistles you would expect from a phone with its price tag, and Samsung is rarely one to skimp on features. But their midrange phones, namely the Galaxy A and Galaxy J lines, are hugely successful, too, helping the brand achieve greater presence and success in developing countries. The latest addition to Samsung’s midrange portfolio is the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), which we’ve reported about before, and despite being a midrange phone still marks certain features previously unseen on Samsung phones (some of which are rumored to carry over to the Samsung Galaxy S10+.)
Meet the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), the first Samsung smartphone with three rear cameras.

Probably the best feature in the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is the triple rear camera setup. We’re not expecting this camera setup to win awards in terms of camera quality since we’re talking about a midrange phone and Samsung’s first attempt at a triple camera setup. However, the camera setup worked wonders for the Huawei P20 Pro which is known by users and reviewers alike as a photography powerhouse, so the Galaxy A7 (2018) should be capable of taking decent shots. The cameras on the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) do look great on paper with a 24MP main sensor joined by an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 5MP depth-sensing camera.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) itself looks a lot different when compared to Samsung’s current design language. The camera setup, which used to be centered, is now placed vertically in the top left corner, similar to the iPhone XS and the Huawei P20 Pro. Just like the Razer Phone, some older Sony Xperia phones, and the Motorola Moto Z3 Play, the fingerprint sensor is placed on the side of the phone, embedded in the power button.
Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) Pricing and Availability
Pricing was not disclosed in the press release. The phone will be available in select European and Asian markets starting this fall and will expand to additional markets in the near future. Samsung has more announcements soon as the company is preparing to hold its “Samsung A Galaxy Event” press conference on October 11th, so it’s possible we could be getting more information about the new Galaxy A7 (2018) then, including pricing and availability.
