We’ve learned a lot about the OnePlus 6T as of late. Last month we reported that OnePlus will open a physical store near Paris for the launch of the new smartphone. That same month it was revealed that T-Mobile will be the first official U.S. wireless carrier to sell the device and that it would, in fact, be an exclusive partnership as well. The overall design compared to the OnePlus 6 will be relatively the same except for the in-display fingerprint sensor and the missing 3.5mm headphone port. Earlier today the company announced the OnePlus 6T edition of The Lab, which will allow for 10 people to use the phone before it is available to the public.
Since the introduction of the OnePlus 3, we’ve watched as OnePlus has released two flagship smartphones each year. Many other companies do this bi-annual release, including LG, Samsung, and a few others. For most of these companies, they are selling these secondary smartphones to a different market. Samsung’s S series is meant for the average user while the Note series is for the productivity types (or those who just want a stylus). LG’s secondary flagship smartphone of the year focuses on video and audio quality, but we haven’t really seen that differentiation for OnePlus’ release cycle..
The Lab program is well-known to those who are fans of OnePlus (or who just pay attention to Android news). They did this last year with the OnePlus 5T and I have to admit that it is a rather clever grassroots marketing strategy they’re using. The company says the goal of The Lab program is to let 10 people “go hands-on with our latest product and share with the community your in-depth review.” So this program is set up in a way that gets people to create a buzz for the smartphone before release.
If you want to apply for your chance to be chosen for the OnePlus 6T Lab program, you’ll want to fill out this form. The form will be available for 10 days and is said to be closed at 21:00 PM HKT (9 AM ET) on Oct 8. There are some terms and conditions for this program that OnePlus has also detailed as well:

- If chosen, you agree to complete all requirements on time and in an honest manner; if you are not able to do so, you agree to return the device in its original condition and give your spot to the next candidate.
- As a reviewer, you agree to provide OnePlus with the free right to use and publish any production materials (video, pictures, articles, etc.) that are generated and submitted during the review period.
- When you apply, your entry will be added automatically to an internal backup reviewer list. We reserve the right to contact backup reviewers for additional review purposes during the selection period.
- OnePlus reserves all rights to this event. The views and opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of OnePlus.
