Nokia 7 Plus now receiving Android Pie update

nokia 7 plus android pie

As promised, Android Pie for the Nokia 7 Plus is rolling out now. We’ve seen the company stay ahead by bringing the latest versions of the beta of Android P to the device in recent months, and relatively quickly as well. Android Pie contains a number of great new features,  such as new fullscreen gestures, optimized system performance, Adaptive Battery, and more. The update comes in at just around 1.47GB. Just like in the betas, there’s a brand new camera application as well.

The update sees Nokia become one of the few OEMs to release their first official Android Pie update, beating out larger companies such as Samsung and LG. The update has gone through a lot of testing as well thanks to the previous betas released by the company, so it’s likely to be stable and without any major bugs. You can download the update simply going to your device’s settings and checking for the update. Users in India are starting to report its rollout, and it won’t be long before it rolls out fully.

The Nokia 7 Plus is a mid-range Android smartphone, which will have many wondering when Android Pie will arrive on other Nokia devices. It makes sense for the Nokia 7 Plus to have the update now given that it was a part of the beta program, but it also suggests that other phones from HMD Global will get the update in the coming months as well. While HMD Global has been doing a great job on keeping Nokia devices updated with the latest security patches and more, they’ve not been as good to the developer community. That appears set to change though, as the Nokia 8 just received an official bootloader unlock. Nokia’s suite of smartphones has just gotten a whole lot more enticing if they’re now going to be opening them up for development as well.
