Huawei’s subsidiary Honor has carved out its own unique identity. Its smartphones are cheaper than its parent company’s smartphones, and they’re targeted for an online-first audience. In India, the company has stated that it wants to become the number one smartphone manufacturer in the country. Recently, it’s also accelerated its international expansion, and it’s announced that its phones will be available in Latin America next year.
On December 5, the Honor 7X was released in international markets. The company also unveiled the Honor View 10 globally, ahead of the phone’s launch on January 8. The X series is doing well in terms of sales — the company announced that global shipments of the series, which consist of devices starting with the Honor 4X to the latest Honor 7X, have reached 40 million overall.
Huawei also revealed sales of the Honor 7X for the same time. The company said that 30,000 units of the phone were sold within the first two hours of the November 11 sale in China. In addition, 20,000 units were sold in one hour in each of the three flash sales held for the device so far in India.
Separately, the company announced that the Honor 7X will go on open sale in India on December 23 (previously, sales were of the ‘flash sale’ variety).
In London, the phone’s sales were said to be double that of its predecessor in the first two weeks. In Russia, sales were triple the amount of sales of its predecessor, which makes Huawei one of the top three brands in the country.
Finally, the company stated that in the US, the Honor 7X achieved 250 percent growth in pre-paid orders from December 5 to December 14 as compared to the sales of the Honor 6X during the first ten days of its debut.
The Honor 7X is an affordable smartphone with an 18:9 5.93-inch Full HD+ display, Kirin 659 system-on-chip, multiple storage and RAM configurations, dual 16MP + 2MP rear cameras, and a 3340mAh battery. It is powered by Android 7.1 Nougat, and the company has promised an Android Oreo update. The device costs $200 in the US, and starts from Rs. 12,999 in India for the 4GB RAM/32GB storage version.
