Microsoft Brings LinkedIn Integration and Customized Translator to the Huawei Mate 10 Phones

There was a time when Microsoft had a goal of competing with Google and Apple in the war of operating systems, as the company threw all its energy behind Windows Phone and later on Windows 10 Mobile. However, the platforms never gained a lot of traction and Microsoft was finally forced to admit defeat, with the company admitting that Windows Mobile is essentially dead with no hardware or feature software updates to be released in the future.  The company now hopes to put its services on its competitors’ phones. To that end, they have had a considerable degree of success with phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition, and now, the company has announced a partnership with Huawei to bring a customized, integrated version of LinkedIn and Microsoft Translator to the Huawei Mate 10 phones.

Microsoft announced on October 16 that it will bring a special version of LinkedIn to the Huawei Mate 10 phones. It said that LinkedIn will have OS-level integration of LinkedIn to EMUI 8.0 users on the Mate 10 series of phones. It allows users to connect their LinkedIn accounts to see the latest profile information about professional contacts directly integrated into the native phone address book.

The OS-level integration is such that if you receive a call or a message from a person, you will be able to know more information about the person, what company they work for, and also their LinkedIn profile photo. This makes the Huawei Mate 10 probably the best series of phones for users who depend on LinkedIn for work communication, job applications and more.

Via a separate announcement on October 19, Microsoft also announced that it will bring a customized version of the Microsoft Translator app for the Mate 10 series. The company said its AI tech had been customized for Huawei’s NPU (Neural Processing Unit) in the Kirin 970 SoC of the Mate 10. This results in better and faster offline translation for Mate 10 users. According to Microsoft, the offline translation packs for the Mate 10 series are 50% smaller than the current Microsoft translation packs.

The Huawei Mate 10 series also has the option of joining translated presentations using the Presentation Translator PowerPoint add-in.
