Google Daydream View is a Refreshed VR Headset for 2017, Priced at $99

Announced as part of Google’s Keynote today, Google will be releasing a version 2.0 of its Daydream platform. According to Google Blog the updated Daydream View will be compatible with the recently announced Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL as well as any other Daydream-ready device, and will be priced at $99. The refreshed View will come with updated lenses to improve image clarity and field-of-view, along with 3 new color choices of Fog, Charcoal and Coral.

In addition to the hardware announcement Google also reiterated its support for Daydream content by indicating that the number of apps and games has increased over ten fold, from the original launch count of 25 to over 250 today. It also highlighted premium content exclusive to Daydream, such as Austin City Limits Backstage, Female Planet, Discovery TRVLR and IMAX 3D support in Google Play Movies.

The new Daydream View will be available on the Google Store later this year for the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, Australia, Italy, France, Spain, Japan and Korea. In addition, limited carriers and sales outlets in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, Australia and India will sell the Daydream View upon its release. Google also notes that U.S., U.K. and Korea buyers will receive a bundle of games such as Wants, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and others.
