HTC U11 Receives MaximusHD 2.0.0 Custom ROM Update with Bluetooth 5 Activation

XDA Recognized Contributor LlabTooFeR is well known within the HTC community. Some may know about them from the software and hardware leaks for a number of HTC devices. Others know about their development efforts with a lot of focus going into the MaximusHD custom ROM. This is a ROM that’s been made available for a number of HTC devices and now the version 2.0.0 update has been released for the HTC U11.

This custom ROM is based on HTC’s v1.27.401.3 OEM ROM, which consists of Sense 9.0 on top of Android 7.1.1 Nougat. This is a brand new firmware update as it has August’s Android security patches and also activates Bluetooth 5.0. Bluetooth 5.0 for the HTC U11 is something we learned about in an FCC filing and it was presumed it would be enabled via an upcoming software update. That update is now rolling out in this latest official update from HTC and it’s included in MaximusHD 2.0.0 for the U11 as well. This update appears to be rolling out to the Chinese variants of the device according to some Twitter users and we should see other variants begin rolling out shortly. HTC confirmed this new firmware rollout and said it would be coming to more devices over the next couple of months.

Alongside those features, this new software base brings the earlier rumored 1080p video recording at 60 frames per second and the new sRGB screen mode for those who have been wanting this feature on the HTC U11. As far as tweaks are concerned, there have been some made to the camera, general performance, WiFi stability, power consumption, thermal improvements and some tweaks for the HTC Edge Sense feature that makes the U11 so unique.

LlabTooFeR also mentions script adjustments and “many other changes,” but doesn’t go into detail about it in this blog post. There’s a download link for this MaximusHD update for the HTC U11 right on the blog post, but you can also find the official XDA thread for it right here. Be sure to check out that thread for a full list of features this custom ROM brings the HTC U11 (such as Magisk support, passing SafetyNet checks, and more).
