Officially announced last month, today, Motorola launched the second smartphone in its Moto C lineup in India called the Moto C Plus. While the entry-level Moto C is already available in the country for a while now, it’s only today that the company is bringing the higher-specced Moto C Plus t0 India.
Unlike the Moto C, which can only be purchased at offline stores, the Moto C Plus will be exclusive to the Indian online retailer Flipkart.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Moto C Plus sport a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. On the inside of the device is a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core 64-bit SoC coupled with Mali-T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM. For optics, it has an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2, autofocus, 1.12-micron pixels and an LED flash while on the front the device sports a 2MP camera with f/2.8 aperture and a front-facing LED flash.
However, the main highlight of the Moto C Plus is its removable 4,000 mAh battery which should easily get you through more than a day on a single charge. The device packs 16GBs of onboard storage and comes with a MicroSD card slot to further expand the storage if the need arises. The device also supports LTE and VoLTE over Band 5.
The Moto C Plus will face tough competition from Xiaomi’s Redmi 4 line-up which offers better internals for the same price. For instance, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 costs same as the Moto C Plus but offers a more powerful Snapdragon SoC and also comes with a fingerprint scanner.
However, the Moto C Plus could be a great option for those who can’t stand Xiaomi’s heavily customized MIUI skin and, at the same time, also can’t afford to pay more to get a clean, stock software experience. The Moto C Plus comes running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and offers a nearly-stock Android experience.
Available in Pearl White, Fine Gold, and Starry Black color options, the Moto C Plus will go on sale starting June 20th on Flipkart at 12 p.m. (IST) with a price tag of Rs. 6,999 ($108).
