Report: HTC’s Upcoming Flagship Will be Called HTC U 11, Will Come in 5 Color Options

It looks like HTC has finally reached a conclusion as to what to name its upcoming flagship device. Internally code-named ”Ocean”, it was earlier believed that the device would carry the brand name “HTC U,” however, a new report shows that won’t be the case.

The report comes to us courtesy of Evan Blass (@evleaks) over at VentureBeat, who spoke with an individual briefed on the company’s plan. According to the report, HTC U 11 is the name the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has finalized to use for the branding of its next flagship. The HTC U 11 will be a successor to last year’s HTC 10, rather than to the HTC U Ultra. The report also states that the HTC U 11 will be offered in five different colors. Subject to market availability, the color options include white, black, blue, red, and silver. The HTC U 11 will be the third device in the U series, which the company introduced earlier this year with the launch of the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play.

Earlier leaked images show, the HTC U 11 will feature the same glossy ”liquid surface” glass design as the HTC U Ultra with the main highlight of the device being its touch sensitive mid frame, which will offer users an additional means to control the device. As a refresher, the HTC U 11 is rumored to sport a 5.5-inch QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, a 12MP rear camera and a 16MP front camera, 64/128 GB of internal storage and will come running Android 7.1 Nougat with HTC’s own Sense 9 UI running on top.

HTC is expected to launch the HTC U 11 during a launch event scheduled for May 16. So hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to find out more about HTC’s upcoming flagship.
