Stanford Develop a Litium-ion Battery That Doesn't Explode from Overheating

Lithium-ion batteries in devices like smartphones, navigation systems and even the new hoverboard craze can explode when they overheat. A new technology, developed by Standard researchers, would actually shut these batteries off if they reach a certain temperature from being punctured, shorted out or simply overcharging. This technology would also turn the batteries back on once it reaches a safe temperature again.
