Huawei Unveils new Watch models, Golden Nexus 6P, and new MediaPad at CES 2016

Huawei Press Conference

We’re attending the Huawei Press Conference at this year’s CES 2016 in Las Vegas, where Huawei has unveiled some new devices aimed at the international market. Huawei is quickly emerging as a global powerhouse in the consumer electronics space, taking the number 3 spot.

Huawei Watch Family Gets Two New Members

First up, Huawei has shown their commitment to their smartwatch line-up by revitalizing the Huawei Watch line. Aimed at women, Huawei has unveiled a new series of watches in its lineup. Partnering with Swarovski, the company has designed a new watch including a Swarovski Zirconia watchface that the company claims is “as brilliant as a diamond.”

The new Elegant and Jewel models raise the total number of Huawei Watch options to 8, and are inspired by classic, high-end wristwatch designs. They come with the latest version of Android Wear, two-layer sapphire crystal, 316L cold-forged stainless steel bodies, and exclusive design details. The Elegant features a distinctive top ring design on a rose-gold plated body, while the Jewel features 68 a Swarovski Zirconia encircling the face. Both watches will be available in the U.S. sometime in the first quarter of 2016.

Huawei has also officially announced that the Watch will include the ability to make calls straight from the Watch (we’ve already seen this feature go live on the older Huawei Watch model, so we’re assuming it was disabled until just recently).

Nexus 6P Goes Plat…err Gold

Huawei also announced the availability of a matte gold-colored Nexus 6P, bringing a new option for those willing to experience the pure Android experience.

This new color model raises the number of available options to 4, among them the silver, black, white, and now gold model. The gold-colored Nexus 6P will be available in both the 32GB and 64GB storage models at BestBuy (both online and in select stores) and on the Google Store beginning today.

A New Tablet, for Fun

Finally, Huawei also announced a new MediaPad M2 10.0 tablet, which aims to offer a great audiovisual experience. The tablet comes with an aluminium body with the kind of precision-crafting we come to expect after the 6P, and a sandblasted finish. The body of the tablet is just 7.35mm thin with an embedded camera and four high-power speakers. These come with an Intelligent Power Amplifier, Clari-fi Audio Restoration and SWS 2.0 Surround Sound for richer audio.

As the name suggests, the tablet also comes with a 10.1-inch, full HD IPS display and a capable processor to back it up. The Huawei MediaPad M2 10.0 will be available in silver for the 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM model, and gold for the 64GB ROM and 3GB of RAM variant. Both will be available in the U.S. sometime in the first quarter of 2016.
