Google’s Pixel C Tablet Available For $499

Pixel-C-3

Android’s Tablet scenario has undergone dramatic changes in the past few years. From having an entire OS version dedicated to bringing out a unique tablet experience, to now being limited to a handful of good choices, tablets have faced a battle with odds always slipping away from them.

Google looked like it planned to give the tablet market a boost, as it snuck in a surprise in the form of the Pixel C, a device built by Google itself. This convertible tablet aimed to give users a reason to buy a tablet, trying to merge the portability factor of a tablet over a laptop along with the convenience and usability of a full-size keyboard.

Let’s take a recap of the specs:

The release of the Pixel C was scheduled for late 2015, and the time of the season is finally upon us. The Google Pixel C is finally up for purchase on the Google Store, starting at $499 for the 32GB model and $599 for the 64GB model. You will have to shell out $149 for the keyboard too, as the price does not include this accessory.

The Google Pixel C runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This is a leap from the Chrome OS that traditional Pixel-branded laptops run. In terms of competition, the Pixel C attempts to stand against the Microsoft Surface lineup and the Apple iPad Pro. Unfortunately, the lack of multi-window on Android will definitely hurt its chances of standing at the top without any competition as the productivity aspect of the tablet remains underutilized by the current state of the Android OS.

The Pixel C is available for purchase in U.S., Canada, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland. Google promises delivery in time for the holidays if you order it today.
