Motorola starts rolling out Android Pie for the Moto Z2 Force

The Moto Z2 Force is already a two years old device. But, despite its age (which is considered as fairly old in the technology industry), it has more than capable specs to run the latest version of Android. The smartphone features the Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB RAM, 5.5-inch 1440p display, and microSD slot, both of the last are still very rare up to this day. That’s why users have been requesting the Android Pie update for so long. Motorola finally fulfilled their wishes as one user already reported that he received an Android Pie update.

Moto Z2 Force XDA Forums

XDA Member Danilo_Pascal shared the screenshot of the Moto Z2 Force running official Android 9 Pie in a thread over at XDA Forums. We can’t really say much about the update, all we know is that it’s Android 9 based and includes fairly new May security patch. Also, the build number is PPx29.159-10. From all we know, it looks like the OTA is only sent out in Brazil. This screenshot and post are also the only ones we can find. If you own Moto Z2 Force and are based in Brazil, make sure to check for updates and let us know the result in the comments.

Due to the lack of information, we can’t really speculate about the final release date of the update. As far as we know, Moto is using a gradual rollout method, which seems to be starting from Brazil. This is also where the company pushes soak tests very often. All we know is that it was about time for Moto to release this long-awaited update. I can only speculate that they will start slow to look out for bugs and issues and will speed up the releasing process slowly. Make sure to tell us in the comments if you received it already.
