ZTE Nubia X with dual screens, dual fingerprint scanners, and Snapdragon 845 announced

When Android devices first started popping up, there were a lot of unique designs. However, over time, phones have all started looking the same. Now, the goal of removing all bezels has brought back some of that quirkiness. We’re seeing phones with sliding mechanisms and pop-up cameras. The ZTE Nubia X is another device that has used an interesting approach to removing the notch.

On the front of the device, there is a 6.26-inch FHD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio. There are almost no bezels on all four sides of the display. You might be expecting the front-facing camera to be hidden in a pop-up mechanism, but there actually isn’t a front camera at all. That’s because ZTE wants users to simply use the rear camera for selfies. There is a second display hidden on the back of the phone.

The rear display is 5.1-inches HD+ and AMOLED. When the display is not on it blends in with the glass back. You don’t notice the second display at all unless it’s on, as you can see in the video below. So when you want to take a selfie, just flip the phone over and use the 16MP+24MP rear cameras and secondary display. This is certainly a very interesting way to eliminate the need for front cameras. It might seem a little silly to have a completely separate display just for selfies, but you can’t argue with the cool-factor of the nearly bezel-less front.

Another thing that is “dual” about this device is the fingerprint sensors. You might expect a device with no bezels to have an in-display fingerprint sensor, but the ZTE Nubia X actually has sensors on both sides of the phone. That makes it easy to scan your finger on the side that feels comfortable whether you’re using the front or rear display. Smart.
