HMD Global hasn’t released a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-powered flagship phone yet. The company’s current flagship phone is still the Snapdragon 835-powered Nokia 8 Sirocco, which was announced back at Mobile World Congress in February. The Nokia 7 Plus is the company’s single phone in the upper mid-range price segment, whereas the rest of the company’s device portfolio is completed by the Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 2.1, Nokia 1.

While concrete information about when a hypothetical Snapdragon 845-powered Nokia 9 will launch is still unavailable, HMD Global does seem to gearing up to launch new mid-range phones, possibly the Nokia 7.1 and the Nokia 7.1 Plus. The company has scheduled an event for October 4. Earlier this month, we saw the first leaked render of the Nokia 7.1 Plus. Now, the Nokia TA-1131, which is possibly the model number of the Nokia 7.1 Plus, has been certified on TENAA, revealing image renders and specifications.

The TENAA listing confirms the presence of a display notch. The Nokia TA-1131 will have a 6.18-inch Full HD+ (2246×1080) IPS LCD with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone’s rumored specifications are noted below:

The Nokia 7.1 Plus looks very similar to the Nokia 7 Plus from the back. On the front, the phone’s differentating factor is the presence of a display notch, which makes it look similar to the Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 5.1 Plus The octa-core 2.2GHz SoC may be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, which would be a decent upgrade over the Qualcomm SNpadragon 660 in the Nokia 7 Plus. The Nokia 7 Plus provided decent value at its launch, but in the months since, competitors such as Xiaomi, Vivo, and Realme have brought Snapdragon 660-powered phones at much lower price points.

We expect the Nokia 7.1 Plus to be announced at HMD Global’s October 4 event.
